Check the archives, this always generates good discussion. You would not be re-inventing the wheel.

3-point load seems to be the preferred test, Gougeon Bros. did some and published thier results, which are in an earlier thread. Run a search for "laugh it up" and I think you'll find it. I printed it out for reference.
My question is this: How will you measure the load? Is there some sort of a scale available that could be used with the likes of a bottle jack? I was thinking of a jig, but have not yet had time to persue it.

I think all three of those things need to be recorded and measured if possible. Most tests I have heard of are to failure, with notes about the type of failure. I'd sure like to see a concensus on the test procedure. Also, I have never seen test results on materials used in production boats (fiberglass, kevlar, rotomolded plastic). It would give us a baseline.
