Do the tests. As there doesn't seem to be a source for these kinds of tests for kayak building materials, maybe the thing to do would be to get everyone on the board to agree on the test method and then whenever someone has time they can do some tests of their own and post the results.

Within a very short time we would have a large data base of info for people to refer to. It would also give everyone a chance to experiment with new layup ideas before building. (If I have an idea for a new layup I can build test panels and compare results to the data base.)

We would just have to pick a couple of people to set up the test procedures that could be duplicated by most builders at home and we would be set.

Not as scientific as laboratory testing, but it would be a reasonable way to allow a large cross section of builders to contribute. It is also far better than what is out there at the present time!
