The various imput to solutions were constructive and interesting. I have made four paddles to date all of which are from solid wood blank stock. As of the type: well that I won't even mention becuase I feel the "magic" of a Greenland is not in the laminations/wood but in the shape and performance. Since using the Greenland I have not touched my Euro paddle. I'm one to be objective as to it's merits and am aware of not becoming a "purist"or a Greenland snob..!, (If there is such an animal). Use that paddle regardless of the weight/wood and see that "magic' is not in the eye of the beholder but in the hand of the beholder. You will find that it is a pleasure to use which one becomes aware in a subtle manner. Roll with it and you will trust your survial on it. Fail an off side roll attempt, no problem just orientate to your favored side and roll up. The ease in which the paddle performs these tasks are amazeing. I can go on and on but please accept this as ramblings of a paddler that discovered something old,something simple and something that works. Time to try another soapbox and sell some snake oil....!!!.
