Bob,

I haven't quite been out in conditions like that, but I've been out in some high winds on smaller lakes where the waves don't get that big. I don't know what the wind speed was, but paddling into it almost had me stopped. I'm still a reletive newbie(1 year) to paddling, but I'm trying to learn as fast as I can.

Others may have had problems with the Tern, but so far I have not. Is it just because I haven't been out in conditions like that yet? Maybe. I speak from my own experience and from what I have read. When I described the Terns perfomance, I am comparing it to other kayaks that I have paddled. So far I haven't paddled any British kayaks. I have paddled several mass market kayaks that needed rudders or skegs, and was very disappointed with them. As I have paddled the Tern more I have learned that I like it a lot, but I am wanting something of lower volume for playing around in. The Tern will be my kayak for longer trips when I carry more gear.

In conditions like what you describe, I would imagine that any kayak would easily pivot on the wave tops.
