Hey-- if your kayak is more valuble, and you drill holes and use epoxy on it, why not the old buick?

Cut a pair of 2x4's to fit the roof and screw them on from inside the carwith big fender washers. I would use a calking/adhesive like 5200 sealant to bed the 2x4 onto the roof. I would also make the 2x4s run lengthwise near the edges of the roof then screw or bolt cross pieces to that. probably stronger and better than a $300 high teck roof rack.

If you do not want to deface the antique look for some aluminum roof rack supports which clip onto the rain gutters, I do not know if they sitll make them but I've used them successfully on my 88 subaru since it was new.
