Hi Larry,

What I did for my Guillemot is I made a half-cockpit form that matched the shape of the outside of the vertical coaming. I glued a stack of ash veneers (enough to get the width of lip I wanted) around the form. Once cured, I sliced the glue-up on the tablesaw and made two 5/16" height slices. These I fitted to the vertical coaming and glued each half-cockpit piece one at a time. The ash was flexible enough that I could make it conform to a uniform height above the cockpit recess surface. To me, this is much easier to do than to try to glue the entire stack immediately to the vertical coaming. There's some more photos on my website if this wasn't too clear.
