For the home brewers amongst the kayak builders - if you've got a CO2 system for kegging beer, why not squirt a bit of that into the can before sealing? Is that gas inert enough to avoid reacting with varnish?

Haven't tried it with varnish myself, but I know it's a way to purge oxygen from kegs/carboys before transferring wort.
