: Good guess Rehd,
: According to Yahoo Maps: Starting from: Fresno, CA
: Arriving at: Port Townsend, WA
: Distance: 969.3 miles Approximate Travel Time: 18 hours 22 mins

: Don't forget to drive straight through, eat in the car and stop only for
: fuel. Fill up just before the Oregon border (no self serve so it takes
: longer cause you got to wait for the gas attendant) and turn on the radar
: detector. This way you can have bragging rights for time verses distance.
: "Yep, we measured it at 969.3 miles and it only took us 16 hours 57
: minutes and 27 seconds. and we're all the better for it." Oops, did
: someone just collapse on the ground. ;)

Hi Roger ( good analogy ) :)

Well, I once drove from Goldsburo N.C. to Fresno in just over 49 hours, non-stop, except for gas and some sodas and candy bars. Course, I was young and stupid then, and only had one week before shipping out to the "Nam". Didn't want to waste a minute. Ha... Slept for two days when I finally hit home soil. BUT...... it was in MY own bed. :)

Now, I'm only half the man I used to be at twenty. Now I'm Old and ....... But, not that stupid. I may be bringing friends that can help drive, and I/we planned on leaving on Weds. after work and getting there on Friday morning. A little time to kill in there, so we will take a couple of little jaunts off the main road on the way, plus, I want to stop in Everett to see someone also. One of my passengers doesn't care for the ferry so we will take 18 hours to drive there and probably another six to drive around the Puget Sound to P.T. :)

Hey, there's a lot to be said for a soda pop, bread and bologna sandwiches and the cool breeze ( 105* ) blowing in your face to make you want to get outta this valley in a hurry. :)

Hope to See Ya'll in Aug.
