Beautiful strip work!

I had the same idea, but the problem I had with prefastening the tape wasthat if I got the part that attaches to the other half wet too, (or get spots on it) then it crisped up and wouldn't wet out right when I attached the halves. No amount of squeegie work would make it work, either. The worst place was at the worst place--right over the joint, because that's where I couldn't avoid soaking it through.

Do you just spot tack it with epoxy? That might work...
