I was thinking that one would let the alcohol dy off completely first. Because alcohol fumes are less caustic, and it is water soluble, I figured it'd be more pleasant to work with. It'd certainly evaporate away faster than water, and you could use it in the same way as water to moisten a rag, but faster drying.
