How about building your wife a high-performance boat and a low-performance boat for yourself? That should help balance your paddling styles. Or, build two high-performance boats and make a very small sea anchor for your boat; just enough to create some additional drag. Of course, then you'll develop even more paddling muscles and increase the strength differential even further. Or, you could use a narrower paddle.

When my wife and I paddle, we try to stay together, but inevitably we get separated. It's not just due to different paddling strengths. My wife usually spends more time looking around enjoying the scenery than I do. Once separated, even for small distances, it's hard to communicate. I've thought of buying a couple FRS radios with VOX capabilities, but I haven't found any that are waterproof. Anyone else solved this problem?
