The only reasons I advocate wet sanding are:-

It is a damm lot less toxic to your lungs! It uses far less highly expesive paper! It cuts faster than dry! It allows for a better feel (dry sanding leaves dust that fools you into thinking you are done when you are not) And most boats that have a good varnish job ARE a fetish or they would have a plastic fantastic!
