: I enjoy reading this board immensly and would like to ask the following: Does
: anyone else besides out there think about cutting off the deck of an older
: fiberglass kayak and replacing it with a stripped deck?

Sure, why not?

: Or how about
: changing out that ocean cockpit for a keyhole while lowering the area
: behing the cockpit for easier laybacks? Call me nuts but I have found and
: purchased a couple of old glass boats for short money and I want to try.

It's not nuts, but why would you want to ruin a good ocean cockpit boat by putting a keyhole cockpit in it? Better to sell it to someone who will use it as-is and use the proceeds to buy a keyhole cockpit boat.

: Is this the best section to post such ideas? Or would a additional forum for
: fiberglass/wood modification be worth considering? I have been working on
: a Night Heron stripper on and off for a few months and am enjoying the
: process but I am honestly more intrigued with glass hull / stripper deck
: method. Would appreciate your thoughts.

It can definitely be done. Go for it!
