I would recommend glueing some cardboard or multiple layers of tape, to the sole of the stapler. You may have to adjust the strength, with which it shoots, if you have different sorts of wood (i.e WRC is softer than mahogany).

I cut cardboard strips, held it under the stapler, and tore off when the staple was shot in. It worked great, but took some more effort, than the above method.
