I like that idea. Having the rudder drop all the way into the deck would reduce side wind area. And give me the desired "cool factor " effect. I am going to consider that for the next boat. I think cutting into my current deck would look funny with my deck design. Boatbuilding can be so vain...

I designed this boat myself, so I am making up everything as I go, most of the time recreating the wheel only to find out after that someone had an easier solution.
