: When you are wetting out your glass, how much epoxy do you mix at once?

Hi Bob

If you are just starting out it's best you stay to smaller batches. It's less nerve wracking to beginners. Glen stated 1/2 cup increments, I used 4 to 6 oz increments. As you get the feel for it and the nerves settle down you can mix more and spread it further.. same goes for when you figure out the curing time and how much 'actual' working time you have with your particular epoxy.

I've never used a fast hardener so can't comment on that, but the Raka, Slow hardener gave me time enough to dump 12 oz. on my canoe and spread it all and still be able to work it for 20 to 30 minutes before it became difficult to work.

Work area temps will also be a factor. I was working in 100* shop/garage in the summer time. Cold weather will help make it set slower. Working out of a cut will make it set somewhat quicker. Either dumping the batch on the boat surface or onto a paint tray or just a piece of plywood will help slow down curing time.

Until you actually get the feel for 'your' epoxy and working time you should probably stick to smaller batches. I'm sure that after one or two, you will get a better idea on what you can do.
