In Response To: Epoxy: wet out questions (Rob b)

I mix about 6-8 oz at a time which works out to about 5-6 pumps when using West system resin pumps. I spread the epoxy which allows me to spread further and faster without leaving too little in any area. Similar to what Jay Babina has stated. I go right onto dry wood also and depending on the size of the project, a helper is definitely an asset to keep the epoxy coming.

As for dry wood, I believe when he says onto dry wood, he means without a pre coat before glass, but he can answer that better. I certainly would not recommend that you lift the glass once you have it smoothed out on your project.

Unfortunately, this is an area of boat building that is very difficult to describe in written words. Hands on in the best experience. It is difficult to say how much is too much or too little, or how fast is too fast or too slow since there are many brands of epoxy that respond in different ways, but if you are looking for some extra written info, I have some on my web site which you can print out from the "How To" section.

Good luck
