: Hey, Bill. I started with the 10" Ryobi all purpose, changed to a Freud
: Diablo 7.25" thin kerf, and ended up with a DeWalt 8"
: multi-purpose thin kerf. All blades pretty much produced the same quality
: of cut, but the smaller ones resulted in zero bog down when cutting ash. I
: went to the 8" because I'm using a piece of 3/4" plywood bolted
: to the top of the table, and I didn't have enough blade protrusion to cut
: 3/4" stock with the 7.25".

Ok do this at your own risk, it's not safe.

But....I cut strips until the last couple of feet, then pull them directly upwards from the blade. I stack them and after all are cut this way, I feed them the opposite way to finish the cut.

If you do try this, never ever stand behind the blade, always off to one side, there is a very big risk that the wood will kick out from the saw sometimes with considerable force, if you're inline you will get hurt. And wear tight fitting leather gloves cause when they do get thrown from the saw you don't get monster splinters. (don't ask how I know this )

I also use a thickness planer to insure the wood is consistant thickness, so I cut the strips a little thick, perhaps a 1/16" over.
