: Do any of you have any experience with laminating hardwood stems with Gorilla
: Glue? I think it might have several advantages over epoxy: 1. You can use
: it when the wood is wet
: 2. It is easier on the tools when shaping the stem after lamination
: 3. No mixing

: I think it has osme of the same advantages as epoxy (gap filling,
: waterproof).

I like poly' glue for certain applications, but it's NOT a gap-filling glue. If you allow it to foam up in a joint, it has almost no strength. The things you need to keep in mind when using it are:

1- The parts to be joined must fit VERY closely. Gaps are NOT acceptable. If you need to fill gaps, use thickened epoxy.

2- The joint must be clamped VERY tightly, so the glue cannot expand and foam. That could be difficult to do with stems. If you can't clamp tightly, use epoxy.

I recently saw a new poly' glue from Loctite (I think) that only expands about 1/3 as much as regular poly' glues. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising.

BTW, poly glue does NOT cure black. It's nearly invisible in a properly done joint.
