what kind of glass schedule? For a four panel hull maximum glass with minimal resin can be done by pre-glassing the interior of the of the hull panels leaving all interior glassing to be done with minimal fillets and tape on the chines. The neatest method is to use strips of cut cloth instead of tape. 2" wide strips of 6oz cloth will use a LOT less epoxy than 9oz tape. Putting cloth over tape really doesn't make sense especially if the tape is 9oz which develops wavy edges.

Make up a few test panels and break them up.

Ideally continuous cloth on the inside could substitute for tape but it's hard to be neat and efficient with interior glassing the first time around and the side panels really don't need the same weight of glass as the bottom panels. By pre-glassing you can apply and squeegee off excess(make sure and tape exterior edges on the other side so excess resin doesn't stick to outside)resin easily and also double up high stress areas like bulkheads so minimal fillets are used on them.

Rakas fine weave 3.25oz glass is a good way to place extra material selectively for very little weight.
