: Bill, Wood World in Chicago stocks marine Okoume and Douglas fir. They may be
: a bit closer to you. Here is a link to their webpage.

: Call them for availability and prices.

: I've purchased 3mm okoume 1088 with damaged corners (which I was going to cut
: off anyhow) for $20 a sheet. Found it in their rack next to the good stuff
: I was there to buy, and asked them how much they wanted for it. I think
: they were happy to get rid of it.

: They also handle West Marine epoxies, but you may get a better price
: elsewhere.

: You don't often think of Chicago as being a boat building mecca, but this
: place is located near the boatyards that line the Chicago River. A lot of
: folks who sail on Lake Michigan store their boats in these yards over the
: winter, and that is also the time when repairs get made. Just down the
: block from these guys is a sailmaking loft, and Mauritzon, the company
: that supplies the PVC fabric Tom Yost favors for covering his
: skin-on-frame kayaks.

: PGJ

Thanks Paul :)

The place I was thinking of is L.L.Johnson, they have a yard thats pretty near where my sister lives in Michigan so I can visit and get wood at the same time, and they are a large yard for lumber and plywood and also have pretty good prices.
