: Mike,
: I'm continuing to ask questions on table saws and yesterday stopped at a
: Woodcraft store in Rochester New York. The one person in the store had no
: knowledge of the strip built process, but pointed me at the Festool
: system.
: My search on the "Festool" led me to your comment, and your opinion
: is what I expected, that the Festool would not lend itself to ripping
: strips.
: Others may have that question so I thought that I'd explore it a little
: further.
: I see that Festool has a guide that is 106 inches. Could that not be set up
: to rip and route eight foot pieces.
: And here let me flaunt my ignorance ... How long are the pieces one generally
: rips? Is it typical to work with pieces longer than eight feet?

Hi Lloyd,
A lot do use shorter stock in the eight foot size, it's relatively easily available in big-box stores. I tend to go for as close to the final size needed. (not really viable for really long things, though)
You could set up the Festool to do ripping over the eight feet but it wouldn't be as effective as a tablesaw or a good bandsaw.
