: What off side of the craft? You now have two hulls of different length and
: different drag, with a motor mounted between them. If the two hulls were
: identical you'ld want that motor spced dead center between them. Since
: they are not identical, you slide the motor toward, or away from the
: center so that it gives you the best use of its power when going straight
: forward. The location of the motor is a fulcrum, and the different drags
: of the two hulls would be balanced around that point. For fine tuning a
: rudder would be nice.

The pictures do indeed show the motor mounted closer to the longer hull - So it's thrust would be better than if mounted in a centered position. However, if you look closer you can see that the placement likely has more to do with the paddler being able to reach the handle and effectively operate the motor. Given this, it's not likely that it is optimally placed to balance the propulsive force between the hulls. Whatever amount this balance is still off is then compensated for by steering the motor a bit off straight line. Not optimal efficiency for the hull drag issue - or getting teh most from teh motor - but better for user in this case. Steering the motor also takes care of the "fine tuning"/"rudder" function.
