So here's the solution after some bulletin Blard research, some tinkering and some beers.......

I was really close to starting over but decided to go the heat gun route and try to force things into shape. The mistake was to not make sure strips were against the forms in the first place. Heat gun, thinner strips and more setup time would have been smart. Staples and straps just didn't work. External frame and shims was more work than starting over. My solution was sheetrock screws and washers to pull the strips in to the forms. More holes to fill but I don't really think that's too big of deal. I used lots of heat and might use some more before releasing the screws. Strips are very close to the forms now so I think I'm back on track. We'll see what happens when the screws are backed off? I'm encouraged because in my experience I can build anything given enough duct tape and sheetrock screws.
