Actually the epoxies work in different ways. I'm allergic to epoxy but I have no problems in touching uncured/cured epoxy.
Yes, hardeners (I think) of some brands are quite agressive in acidic/alkaline way.

For me the allergies come from epoxy dust. So I can work with bare hands with cured/uncured epoxy. The most problem is cleaning epoxy/residuals in sgrips in doors etc. But in sanding I need good gloves and suit. And even that wont help, I still get allergy to my wrist very easily.
