I've got a couple of years in a 21" wide Shooting Star now, and I find it stable. My understanding is that "B's" were originally big water boats, so too tippy would be too much, methinks. On the other hand, narrower means more stable in waves once you've got the basic balancing act down. The SS is a great surfing/rough water day boat, and I'm a happy camper with mine.
