Thanks for the good advice on deck rigging -- just the sort of thoughtful discussion that I find so valuable on this board. I've tried grabbing onto a boat without lines in a mild chop, and can't imagine that I'd be successful hanging onto a slick boat on Puget Sound during a winter paddle. I still haven't figured out the bow line rigging. I appreciate your discussion regarding the ability to grab the line and get your boat out of the surf on a run, but I can't get used to the idea of putting a cleat in front of my face on the foredeck. I'll check out Mariner's system when I buy deck line from them.
