A genuine long boat, a gift from Scandinavia for one of the world fairs in Chicago ( either the 1893 or the 1933 world fair) was stored for decades under a roof in Lincoln Park -- right next to the entrance to the Lincoln Park Zoo. A few years ago it was removed to an inside storage area for repairs and restoration. The Chicago Historical Society is also in Lincoln park, and just a block or two from the old site. I think a call to them might provide some information on the curent location, and leads to whoever is doing the restoration work.

I'm sure a display of some scholarly interest in the project would be appreciated Hopefuly the restorers would provide potential builders of a new longboat with access to detailed measurements and an opportunity to examine inner fastenings.
