Good find! A guy who used to hang around here once calculated that the maximum sheer force on a footpeg bracket would be around 40 lb., so these should work just fine.
: I don't care for the wood block method since it offsets the footbrace
: inboard. Threaded studs and receptacles are available that have a circular
: base that can be bonded directly to the surface, eliminating the need for
: the blocks. Have a look at aircraftspruce.com, go to the online catalog
: and search on "click bond" and "ez-point." I have yet
: to get to the footpeg stage, and so haven't fully researched these
: fasteners. They look promising in the fiberglass/stainless versions. Once
: bonded on, a couple of plies of glass could be put over the bases to make
: them really strong. They say that they have been tested to 200 lbs
: sheer-off without glass and in excess of 500 lbs with -- more than strong
: enought for our needs. They don't say how long the studs are -- you'll
: need to call 'em. If the receptacles (nuts) are used, it would be ideal if
: their OD fit into the ID of the screw holes of the footbrace. Maybe the
: footbrace could be drilled a little larger. Let us know if you try them!
