Several years ago I made a mounting shoe for my belt sander that bolted under my table saw extension. It holds the belt face at a 90 deg. angle to the table with the belt running horizontally towards me. The edge of the belt is about 1/4" below the table top and an 1/8" back. The shoe has a fairly snug fit on the profile of the sander so that I can just drop it in without clamping it down. I can use the rip fence and miter guage on the saw table for fussy stuff. This does alot of the same work as the disk sander without the expense of a second tool. I also made a jig to hold the sander upside down for hands free shaping. While this is not as accurate as a dedicated disk/belt sander it is generally less expensive and more versitile. I noticed a newer craftsman sander with a flat back and square sides that would work well for this.
