: Bert, I have only built one boat so there is a lot more knowledge from others
: then I have. Since your veneer seems to be very valuable I would be
: careful and maybe try some test pieces. But on my boat I pre-epoxied the
: wood before I glassed to help fill any voids and also not to have any dry
: glass or void bubbles. The epoxy fills the voids and just looks like a
: black line. Pretty.

John.my idea was just to precoat the banding itself and the edge between the deck and veneer in order to make sure all the little gaps were filled and no air trapped.Maybe let it start to kick and then lay on the cloth and wet it out.I didn't do precoat on the hull and it wetted out fine. What do you mean when the epoxy"just looks like a black line"
Does this mean it accents the natural grain of the wood.?
Thanks
Bert

Why inlay at all? Surface mount and sand.
