hi Liz;
i used air dried (at 10%) aycedar for the ribs on my "morris" sof. i soaked it for at least 24 hours before steaming. 1 1/2 minutes in the preheated steamer seemed to be about perfect. i would think that if you soaked kiln dried for maybe 48 hours it should bend fine. i've steam bent some very dry hardwood this way. email me if you'd like to see pics.
