Material: cutting minicell foam

I was at a yard sale the other day and scored some minicell foam for $2.00 , the only drawback is that it is 4" thick 6" wide and 2' long . is there any way to slice it so it would be 2" thick by 6"X 2' ? I was sort if thinking about a hot wire cutter I remember from science class some way to hook up a wire to a 9v. battery , have the wire streched between two posts . I am thinking about then slicing the foam similar to a bandsaw but with no waste ?I'd use a bandsaw but I don't have one . Any help would be appreciated Thanks again
