I too have considered using an inlay strip. I assume you would glue it to a thinner strip so that it would lay flush. Has anyone tried this. My concerns would be sanding through it when fairing the boat.

Also I wonder how flexable the strip would be with the inlay glued to it and if it could follow a curve.
