Hi Mick, I'm just having fun with it. I'm not at the level as some of you guys and this boat won't quite make it to "Work of Art" quality... I'm shooting for "Furniture" quality

I bookmatched all the pieces in my hull feature strip and it does produce a nice effect. The Board is a 14' 1x4 with only one small imperfection so I could conceivably cover a fairly large area. It would be possible to bookmatch several circuits around the boat. Today I'm leaning toward the same pattern as the hull but with dark diamonds; they are big enough so the striations will "connect" visually from one to the next. It will still be pretty subtle though.

I made a bunch of sketches and mock-ups on my first one. I'll do the same thing this time. The next task at hand is getting my hull glassed... it looks like I'll be cutting out part of a strip that ended up too thin and is sitting 1/16" below my otherwise fair/sanded hull - Ug
