Hi,

Your site is very nice and the kayak looks goody.
We noticed the panels were not scarfed, rather butt-jointed.
That method appeals to me as I'll have to build on the spot in a few days or weeks.
I only wonder if you get a smooth surface at the joint on the outer side of the yak ? Did you have to fill much ?
In other term, why do some people bother with scarfing if a butt-joint is enough?

: Everything Pygmy says about the handling of their boats is accurate. The Tern
: will be more manueverable, the Coho will track stronger. I logged on to
: the Eddyline site to check out the Raven. Based on their description of
: the Raven, you might want to take a look at building one of Rob Macks
: designs, since the Raven is based on an Aleutian hull design.
: You haven't said anything about your size. Both the Tern and the Coho are
: pretty high volume boats. Dave Grimmer at Pygmy was very helpful when I
: was deciding which boat to build and should be able to help you sort it
: out. Based on the description and reviews of the Raven, you're a candidate
: for the Tern, if the responsiveness and playfull qualities of the Raven
: are what you liked. You can check out the Tern I built at the link I've
: included here for an idea of the construction process.
