Epoxy: Grit for mechanical bond

I have laid on a couple of fill coats of epoxy while the previous coat was still "green" for the chemical bond. Now that I have scraped the dribbles and such, the coats have cured so now the next fill coat will have to be a mechanical bond. What grit is best to achieve this. I'm thinking 60, but really don't want to go too deep. Should I just touch everywhere with the 60 or is 120 O.K. I'm using a randon orbital if that matters.

Thanks for the help.
