: Forget the word "inset". I may have used a wrong word. I was
: wondering how you intend to complete the area in the center between the
: accent strips.

Well, first off I would not have put the dividers strips on you see in the rear deck.

I'm building this from left over fence boards, so my colour options are a bit limited, I would have prefered to have enough consistant colored strips to provide a 4" or so border running parallel to the accent line as it runs from front center to the back.

What I am am doing: with each fence board I get enough wood to have two strips run on each side of the kayak, so am going to run a total of 6 strips on each side, giving me three strips running parallel to the accent strips.

This would then leave a triangle shape to be filled on the front deck, with the strips from one fence board, which should be a uniform coloured section (dark, but more redish than the areas you see in the current pictures).

I'm running out of strips, so I'm not sure what I'll do with the rear deck. I do have two left over strips from the 'parallel lines sections' from each board, I'll finish the section of the rear deck to a strait line.

the strait line will then be filled to about 1.5 inches thick (light colour), the recessed cockpit area will be the same colour. Likely I'll run a thin divider strip around the cockpit recess.

leaving a centre triangle in the rear deck, for which I'll likely have to go buy another fence board or two to get enough wood to fill. somthing darkish.

This would make more sense if I had a camera, I've started the parallel to feature strip strips. hand have cleaned up the stips at the rear deck a bit.

Should be good enough for me.

cheers,

Myrl
