Re: hybrids: the most difficult of all to align

: Oh yes,

: I did check the alignment last night, I'm off by about 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch
: at the stern. I think I can live with that.

: I did put a shear line strip down first when I was planking, but I only
: stapled it to the forms. Of course the staples have pulled off many times
: since then. So I'd recomment to anyone working the same boat that you afix
: it better some how (screw?). Also ensure the forms can not move up off the
: hull, as they can in my setup, just taping them down would have been a big
: improvement. This should produce the defined shear line.

: When I do another hybrid I'll also try and fix the hull in position with
: ridgid kayak cradle. Likely I'll do a different hull as well, on for
: expedition, and perhaps multi-chined. we will see.

: I think a better choice for a hybrid would be one with a hull that comes up
: to a higher shearline, taller hull side panels that is. Making the shear
: clamp (is that the correct term?) method of joining the way to go. This of
: course is just my opinion, based on experince getting to the point in the
: pictures on one whole kayak.

Maybe including a strongback would help.

I'm thinking I should probably use screws to hold my internal forms in place. I really like the way you've cut your forms, and plan to do it similarly on my boat.
