I think one reason you don't see it that much is because it tends to
produce very low volume boats. Another is that you need better quality
plywood to do it. BS1088 Okoume is probably overkill for a lot of the
S&Gs out there, but is probably a very good idea for tortured designs.
A third reason is that it is supposedly a bit trickier to get right.
I have heard of people having to saw their seems apart two or three times
before getting them fair.

The Kayak Shop (the old one) has two tortured plywood designs in it, the Yare
and the Pocomoke (a double). I think the New Kayak Shop has one in it as
well, the Severn. I'm not 100% sure that's a tortured design, though.

Having said all that, I have never tried to build one of those designs, so
I can't say anything for sure.
Why, exactly, are you more interested in tortured designs?
It looks like a lot of designers have abandoned them in favor of hard chine
and multichine designs.
