The DeWalt DW670 laminate trimmer I purchased came with a very nice adjustable edge guide that you could use if you have a hard edged sheer line. You could also take some double-sided carpet tape and attach a cedar strip the entire length of the boat and the appropriate distance in from the sheer, using it as a continuous edge guide for cutting those slots. That would save you the hassle of re-measuring everytime you cut a slot.
