Pygmy will give you credit for parts you don't purchase with their kits. If I build another Pygmy, I'll probably forego their coaming approach and build a carbon coaming like the ones Vaclav at OneOceanKayaks details. I've built 2 and really like their strength, light weight, low profile and looks.
Nice way to personalize your boat, too. On the other hand, there's not a thing wrong with the way they design their boats.
