Rick, I use the strong backs that Ted Moores has in his book. I use both methods of building kayaks. Both of the kayaks have internal frames and these are put on top of the 16 foot long strong back. We used three uprights for aligning the form and can adjust for any deflection by adding an extra support. When the hull is finished the form is put into the cradles as shown in the picture. A major plus for this method is that you can strap the kayak down so it will not move. Mind you it takes up some room in your shop. It will allow you to glue up panels for S&G kayaks too. A CLC 17 LT was built with this table. It makes a great table for a lot of other projects such as a cut off saw table, router infeed and outfeed table for bead and cove.
