Hi again Grant

Plantation pine is mostly used here for building. I had a look around and it seems overly full of big knots. You are right that I should just get something and give it a go till I find what I want.

You've given me an idea. Meranti (not sure of it's real name) is used a lot for floor skirting boards, window sills etc. It has a nice long straight grain and is easy to work. Hmmm, I'll be about tomorrow so will have a look.
