I'm helping a friend rebuild a S$G kayak and will be building my next boat using Kayak-Sport hatches (used by Dagger and several other manufacturers.)

The distributor says glue them to the deck. I am used to working with epoxy, will epoxy hold as well as some other type marine adhesive?

What will be the best adhesion, to glue the hard plastic rim directly to bare wood, then epoxy and glass around it? To coat the wood with epoxy, the glue the plastic rim and then glass around it? To glass the deck, then glue the rim to the glassed deck??????

Any recommendations and experience with good strong marine adhesives appreciated.
