hi Grant;
i used some really cheap 1/8" rotary mahogany doorskin to build my s&g guillemot. i paid $9 canadian per sheet. the outer veneer was a bit on the thin side and i sanded through in a couple spots, at the scarfs. overall the boat looks great. i used six ounce cloth and epoxy, inside and out. it's plenty strong. weighs 40 lbs.
