: Hi Patsy, that is a valid concern. I saw some elaborate veneers at R2K2 and,
: while they looked stunning from a few feet away (or even close range),
: there were tiny bubbles along all the edges. I would experiment with
: glassing the samples you've made. One or two fill/seal coats of epoxy
: before glassing might be enough to bridge the gap. You can also press the
: glass into the gap as the epoxy is curing (but you could be waiting there
: for hours). Glassing with fast hardener if you plan to squish bubbles out
: as they are curing.

: Good luck with it,

I know this is probably taboo, but if you have a dark veneer over a light color wood, any bubbles that may appear are less noticable and may not be an issue. Since the bubbles will appear white, if you are using a light colored wood, you would have to get REAL close to see the bubbles. If those same bubbles where over dark colored wood, they are much more noticable and you can see them from quite a distance.

I only point this out so maybe someone can consider this info in their choice of wood colors and if they will have a veneer over it.

You could also do some seal coats of epoxy over the veneer and onto the surrounding areas, but the whole thing should then have a seal coat so you don't get color differences in the sourounding wood. The seal coats will fruther help ease the edges between the veneer and underlaying wood and you should have no porblems with bubbles at the edges.
