I wish I had some pictures of my trailer.

A friend (who welds) built it for me 3 years ago. I have no room for storing it so we got creative on the design. When it is not in use it comes a part and is stored in my one car garage with the car, bikes, boats and all the rest. The two up rights hang on the wall, the tong sits on the floor, and the box stands on end strapped to the wall at the back of the garage all out of the way.

In general the frame is made of 2” square stock steel, 12 gage if I remember right. The box is 6 ft long and 4’6” wide (not including the wheels). An adjustable length (6 ft to 9 ft) tong made of much heavier gage steel. The uprights are designed to hold 4 wide canoes (lots of kayaks on there side). The uprights are made of 2” steel for the vertical portions and the horizontal bars are made of 1” square stock.

The reason for the design is to allow me to use the trailer for a wide multitude of purposes, such as a utility trailer, or for my boats.

I have many miles on this trailer in all setups and it is great.

My suggestion is to make it from scratch. The most expensive item was the axle, wheels and suspension. I do not remember how mush it cost to build but I would guess about $400 dollars.
