Yup. I sure did... And as it turns out, I'm glad for the extra height on my footbrace deckbeam. It provides a very comfortable feel, especially as I paddle either bare foot or with neoprene socks. To keep the weight down, I epoxied a block over the "mistake" side, and another over the opposite side to turn the deck beam into a "feature." You'll also see Sean (and my shoes.) I agree with Sean - why sister both sides? You can epoxy or glue one side only and achieve more strength than a perfect single beam.
