I blew up one of those using it for vacuum bagging.

I bought a $60 ShopVac QSP 15 gallon model. Great bang for your 60 bucks. Home Despot has Ridgids with the tool plugin for $100 or so, I believe.

I don't need ear muffs with the QSP, but it's not exactly silent, either. The old Sears and Dirt Devils screamed and made earplugs and/or muffs an absolute necessity.
